Our Vision

Community Baptist Schools stands as a resource for parents and churches seeking to prepare their children to build Biblically successful homes, careers and churches by providing a Christ-centered education that constructs a Biblical worldview through a commitment to “Academics, Integrity and Faith.”

Our History

Community Baptist Schools began its ministry in 1972 under the leadership of the pastor and the membership of Community Baptist Church. The desire was to provide an alternative to the public school system while still meeting the academic and spiritual needs of the children of Community Baptist Church and the surrounding area. The school began operation in the fall of 1972 with fifty students in kindergarten and first grade. The goal of the church was to continue to add grades each year to complete an elementary school.

When the school was first opened the elementary programs were housed in the Sunday school classrooms of Community Baptist Church. As the school grew, construction on a new building began in 1978. The result of that construction was our current high school building. That building was designed with eight additional classrooms, offices, locker rooms and a gymnasium.

In 2006, Community Baptist Schools expanded its educational offering to include a high school. The high school graduated it first senior class in 2008. In 2009, the school added a van route which provides daily transportation to our students in the Eden area of Rockingham County.

In 2013, Community Baptist Schools changed it membership from the American Association of Christian Schools (AACS) to the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). CBS continues to be an active member in ACSI.

Today, Community Baptist Schools is the oldest and largest private Christian school in Rockingham County, and provides a traditional quality Christian education to students in grades K3 through 12th grade.

We claim Romans 8:37 as our school verse. It reads, “Nay in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” It is this verse that provided the basis of our school mascot, the “Conqueror.” We are passionate about academics, integrity, and most of all faith. It is our goal to develop each student in these areas as they are being prepared for the life that God has called them to live.

Community Baptist Schools provided me with an excellent education and equipped me with everything I needed to be successful in college and in life. The teachers are both passionate and committed to helping each student reach their full potential. They genuinely care about the success of each individual, spiritually and academically.
